After shadowing Mark around for a few weeks now, I know that the life of a high school Athletic Director is very time demanding. Sometimes it will encompass a period of 12 hours a few days a week along with additional hours working on the weekend. His commute is two hours daily and the time he spends at the school adds up to a very long day. At times, he will arrive at school by 7:30 AM and not leave until the final boys or girls varsity basketball game is over and the gymnasium is locked up and secured. His arrival time at home......11 PM. That's a long day. The winter months seem much longer due to the darkness that begins each day and the dreariness that people in Northeast Ohio expect during the months of January and February. Despite the time spent, he is upbeat, positive and has a bounce in his step and a smile on his face. As compared to the other Athletic Directors I have known and worked under, Mr. McGuire is one of a kind. He is committed to the student athletes, to the coaches, to the administration, and to the community. He is truly committed to the citizens of Solon, OH and his actions speak volumes of that commitment.
